Just two days in December are all you have to enjoy the winter fun in Baltimore, Maryland at Holiday Dress.

The historic Cylburn mansion is dressed up for the season in the traditional Victorian style and charm. Located alongside the Cylburn Arboretum on 4915 Greenspring Avenue, this 207 acre wildlife preserve and park is spectacular to explore in the snow on a clear day.

The house itself will be decorated in the olden fashions, while the outdoors is left to Mother Nature and her dressings. See nature in its winter form and not dancing light figurines.

Admission is free for each day—December 17th from 10am to noon, and December 18th from 2pm until 4pm. It’s a short window of opportunity, but well worth the trip. Not only can you see a piece of Maryland in its old world finest, but you can also check out the arboretum to see how the Cylburn Arboretum Association works to preserve and protect the region’s shrubs and trees.

The many nature trails and gardens are a delight in their ‘holiday dress,’ but there’s not much time left.

Contact Kristopher Madore for information at inro@cylburnassociation.org or call him (410) 367-2217.

There are many different holiday treats for garden lovers, or at least enough to keep you content until spring.

Can't sit still during the winter? Just itching to get going on your garden, but can't even find it under the snow?

Well, the Garden of Lights garden show is the perfect way to shake off the flurries and get outside for a while. Situate in Wheaton, MD from November 19th to January 8th, 2006, visitors will experience the tranquility of a winter's night with a little holiday cheer mixed in for good measure.

Over 650, 000 lights illuminate the winter gardens shaped as animals, plants, and fountains. The Brookside Gardens glow with the cheer of the holiday season without any of the denominational characteristics.

This is a great show to take the kids to and make a learning experience. Point out the different plants as constructed into lights, or look through the gardens to see what hasn't been completely covered in snow.

At 1800 Glenallan Avenue in Wheaton, MD, from 5:30pm until 9pm, all ages can zip up their coats and enjoy the brisk air. It's $15 per car or van, but if you have a larger vehicle in mind, you will want to call (301) 962-1457 for a more detailed registration fee.

Kerri Nichols is the one to contact for more information. Email her at Kerrie.nichols@mncppc-mc.org or give her a call at (301) 963-1453.
